Boxwood Shrubs
Boxwood shrubs are slow growing evergreen shrubs with small, glossy dark green leaves. Since colonial times, Boxwood shrubs have been used for landscaping and are staples in many formal gardens. They are excellent as a hedge plant, for foundations, and edging situations.

In order for Boxwood shrubs to survive, special care must be given to them during planting. Specifically, Boxwoods planted in holes that are too deep will eventually die off. After planting, Boxwood shrubs should be watered sufficiently, as light sprinkling and watering will encourage shallow root systems and eventually cause plant death.

Because Boxwood plants are shallow rooted, plant owners should layer 2 to 3 inches of organic mulch over the soil surface. Mulching helps keep the Boxwood cool and also allows for water conservation.

Boxwood shrubs are excellent shrubs that can be pruned and sized to the shape you desire. These shrubs and small trees are perfect for almost any imaginable landscaping purpose.
